Special Collections

Rosalie Stambler Nadeau
Rosalie Nadeau's familiarity with flounder began with her commercial fishing experience. She demonstrates a great attention to detail in her functional ceramic fish sculpture. She uses lead free glazes and high fire stoneware which is ovenproof and microwave and dishwasher safe. Most fish dishes are available in small sizes suitable for appetizers to oversize platters.

Plates available in Blackback Flounder, Halibut, Fluke, Lemon Sole, and Sand Dabs. All pottery pieces are one-of-a-kind. Those shown here are examples.

J. Cooper Chamberlain
J. Cooper Chamberlain studied at the Boston Museum School of Art. Her work in Raku is exhibited in many galleries, shops, and private homes across the country. She resides in Tennessee. Of her work she says:
"My interpretation of the Raku technique involves three separate fires. At the final stage I transfer each piece, at peak temperature (2000° F) to a separate container where it is flamed and smoked, causing the metallic glazes to become irridescent as the crackle glaze develops."
All pottery pieces are one-of-a-kind. Those pictured here are examples.

Jan Sell of Mussels & More
Jan has created unique pottery that is as beautiful a sit is functional. She offers shell designs of mussels, oysters, scallops, clams & a variety of other sea inspired bowls & platters. Her pottery is food & oven safe.

Lois Sharpe of Sharpe Pots
Lois Sharpe’s pottery reflects a beautiful interpretation of the ocean & its colors. Here at Under the Sun we carry bowls that have a barnacle like texture on the outside & beautiful glazes inside. They are all food safe & microwaveable.

Gary Wilson
Gary Wilson’s Wave Bowls are offered here at Under the Sun in beautiful glazes of cobalt blues & tropical ocean colors. The sea life vases are haunting with the subtle representation of sea animals that appear mystically from the glaze. His designs are simple yet elegant. They are food safe.
